Extending even further the
integrated HD functionality of Omneon Spectrum servers,
Omneon will release at NAB 2005 the latest version of its server
video, which offers HD content integration capabilities and
SD for simultaneous playback , on the same channel or in
different playback channels.
This breakthrough has been possible thanks to the introduction
of the MultiPort 4100 series, a new family of devices from
interfaces for MPEG-2 decoding that can perform the
simultaneous playback of SD and HD MPEG-2 material. To the
incorporate internal conversion in both directions, the series
MultiPort 4100 offers TV producers the
advantage of being able to put SD and HD material in the same block of
reproduction or "timeline", being able not only
mix SD and HD material to create a single output channel, but
also mix the SD and HD source material to create two
outputs, one SD and one HD, to power your various
machines, all from the same timeline.
HD in any format
In addition to the new Built-in HD MPEG-2 capabilities available to the new HD interface devices, Omneon can also process Compressed formats from Sony with HDCAM and Panasonic with DVCPRO-HD.
The image and audio server Omneon Spectrum consists of three basic components:
- Server components MediaDirector, which handles bandwidth between the real-time interface components, connectivity of the network and storage subsystem. One MediaDirector includes processing elements multiple to ensure maximum bandwidth for real-time audio/video signals, while manage all file system functions and of the Raid.
- Arrangements or groups of MediaStore storage, including Fibre disks Channel of 73, 146 and 300 Gbytes, sources of supply of hot-swappable power and access modules multiple that allow to increase the bandwidth and the resilience.
- Interface adapters MediaPort and MultiPort for video, audio, code time and control signals. Using these components input/output, users can receive and encode content and playback of the content for a production or transmission. These Components are available in a variety of formats, such as MPEG-2 (SD and HD), DV/DVCPRO, ITU 601 uncompressed, SDTI, HDCAM, DVCPRO-HD, and DVB/ASI. The MediaPort offer single-channel input and output bidirectional, while Multiport provide multiple signal output channels.
