The most important fair in the sector will also serve as stage for the delivery of different awards that recognize the best and most innovative protagonists of the industry. See here is a review of the main winners.
- Technological Innovation Award
The National Institute of Information Technologies and Communications (NICT) and Science and Technology Research Laboratories (NHK) of Japan, will receive the Technological Innovation Award that will be delivery within the framework of NAB.
This new award recognizes organizations that bring exhibitions and demonstrations of great merit to NAB, as well as the presentation of advanced research and projects in development in the field of communication technologies. The prizes will be awarded on Wednesday, April 22.
The National Institute of Information Technologies and Communications is a national research organization of telecommunications. NAB will be the first time that this institute will show its technological advances in video and sound outside Japanese territory. Working with your partners of the industry, the NICT will hold television demonstrations holographic; 3D screens without special glasses; and programming of 3D television that will be transmitted from Japan, through broadband, among others.
For its part, the Science Research Laboratories and Technician (NHK) working since 1930 in the creation of new devices and transmission systems in compliance with your mission to research and develop the next generation of broadcasting systems. These laboratories will bring to NAB a ultra HDTV theater with 16x higher image resolution than that of high-definition television and 22.2 channels of surround sound, as well as new technologies that are play in 3D on HDTV and mobile digital television, based in the Japanese standard ISDB-T.
- International Award for Excellence in Broadcasting
Rádio Expres from Slovakia and PRO TV from Romania will receive this year the International Award for Excellence in Transmission, to be delivered on April 20 at NAB.
Since 1995, the awards have recognised organisations international broadcasting that has demonstrated leadership exceptional and who have put in place successful strategies, providing innovative services in their communities.
Radio Expres informed its community about the procedures established by the government for the adoption of children, through radio broadcasts and reports, and also contributed to the creation of new legislation to improve the existing procedures in the subject.
For its part, PRO TV developed four major campaigns social in the last two years contributing to increase the percentage of organ donation, alerting about consequences of deforestation and promoting laws for the animal and child protection.
In 2008 the winners of this award were: El Sistema de Tokyo Broadcast, New Delhi Television, and the Border Rock 106.1FM, Canada's "The Goat".
- Crystal Radio Award
Since 1987, these awards recognize radio stations for their service to the community. In this category has been announced a list of 50 finalists among which will be the winners have been chosen.
The panel of judges is represented by members of different media, service organizations public and public relations firms. The winners will be announced at the Radio luncheon, sponsored by the ASCAP, to be held on Tuesday, April 21.
