The history of Seel, a Colombian company dedicated to technical installation of production equipment and inputs and post-production, is directly related to evolution of television in Colombia.
The company was born in 1978, as a result of the initiative of Carlos Fernández, who worked as an electronic engineer of the company Teleandina. His experience in the sector and the close business relationships with senior executives of the national television allowed him to close his first contracts with companies such as RTI, Jorge Barón Televisión, Producciones JES and Inravisión, in addition to becoming an exclusive representative of international brands, and consolidate the manufacture of mobile phones as one of the strongest cover letters of the company to the region.
The challenges involved in events such as the arrival of the color television and the first mobile transmission, the live coverage of the first cycling rounds to Colombia, the birth of regional channels, the installations of independent newscasts and technical adaptation of private channels, among others, are some of the challenges that Seel has assumed and that have allowed him to consolidate in the market. At each of these times, the company introduced new technologies and developments in the country, was in charge of the instruction and accompaniment of the personnel involved in each process, and captivated new customers and markets.
Today, the family business has not only grown in infrastructure and personnel, but also in capacity of production. Throughout its history it has manufactured more than 70 mobile phones of transmission and has expanded its range of action with consultancies international, installation of audiovisual services institutional and infrastructure for theatres and others Scenarios.
While these new businesses have brought him greater profits and experience to the company, about 80% of its turnover remains concentrated in the broadcast sector. The export of some mobiles to neighboring countries and the internationalization of other of its services, have promoted the strengthening this area and have presented other challenges of administrative type, such as process standardization, market research and diversification of supply.
