Network Electronics Acquires Video Products Group

Video Products Group is a provider of professional video and audio transport systems for local and wide-coverage networks. The union of companies aims to offer professional video solutions to broadcasters and carriers.

Network Electronics announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the purchase of Video Products Group of California. Video Products Group (VPG), founded in 1985, is a supplier of professional video and audio transport systems for networks local and broad coverage, employing approximately 60 people around the world. Many of the major carriers rely on video transport and broadcasting services in VPG.

The contract combines the two companies in order to form a powerful player in the professional signal transport market video and audio. This business allows Network Electronics increase reach and scale with a comprehensive portfolio of products for the professional video transport market.

The market of the video to date presents a rapid consolidation and convergence, and it is important that companies can select video transport solutions, linking industries of broadcasting and telecommunications and maximizing the future flexibility. Bringing together VPG technologies and expertise of technology and video transport with proven solutions of Network Electronics, we will be able to create the best offer in-class for video transport solutions. Even more, the VPG's huge customer base, combined with the extensive network electronics' global market presence, adds a significant inertia to Network Electronics, with a critical mass increased and greater opportunities for future growth, said Oddbjørn Bergem, CEO of Network Electronics.

The new offer Combined products will be unique in functionalities, features and breadth, which will allow companies to telecommunications and broadcasters build systems complete video transport from a single source. This suite end-to-end video transport solutions will enable to broadcasters and carriers to build networks within its premises, of long contribution distance, production and distribution of content over networks IP, SDH/Sonet and CWDM and DWDM.
