Colombia. During the second half of 2024, open television operators in Colombia reported a total of 5,258 PQRS, which represents a reduction of 21% compared to the same period of the previous year. Most of these requests corresponded to complaints or claims (40.9%), followed by requests (22.8%) and petitions (19.7%).
This is the result of the most recent CRC report, which consolidates the information reported quarterly by national public and private, regional and local channels.
Private national channels concentrated the highest monthly averages, with 113 complaints, 65 requests and 58 requests, while among public channels an average of 12 monthly requests stood out. The website was the channel most used by citizens to present their requirements, with a participation of 73.6%, which reflects a clear preference for digital media.
In terms of topics, the largest volume of PQRS was grouped in the category of "Other" (41.2%), followed by issues related to programming (35.4%) and information pluralism (8%). Among the programs that received the most applications, Master Chef ranked first with 364 PQRS, equivalent to 6.9% of the total reported.
Finally, a content analysis carried out on requests from the fourth quarter showed that private national channels concentrated more than 60% of the expressions with negative connotations, which highlights their prominence in the critical perceptions of viewers during that period.
"These results allow us to better understand how citizens interact with open television operators and which aspects generate greater interest, concern or dissatisfaction among audiences. With the constant monitoring and publication of these reports, the CRC reaffirms its commitment to evidence-based regulation, which promotes transparency, strengthens the rights of audiences and serves as an input for service providers to improve their content, programming and service channels." Andrea Beatriz Muñoz concluded. Commissioner of Audiovisual Content of the CRC.
