Latin America. A standard in camera quality has become the list of cameras approved by Netflix. Today a new one is added to this list, the URSA Cine 17K 65 camera from Blackmagic Design.
Under the official title: "Cameras and Image Capture: Requirements and Best Practices," the list highlights the capture requirements needed for the streaming provider to consider it an approved camera, including dynamic range, resolution, codec, workflow support, and more. Netflix requires that 90% of the final length of a show be recorded with approved cameras.
The list already includes the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF, the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF and the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 among its homologated systems.
The Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 is a digital cinema camera that allows you to record in 8K 65mm with the door open at up to 100 fps, or in 17K at up to 60 fps with 16 stops of dynamic range. It features a new extremely large format 65mm 51 x 24mm RGBW image sensor for a truly cinematic look.
The sensor is designed to achieve incredible quality images at all resolutions, from 4K to stunning 17K resolution. Its unique RGBW architecture provides the same number of red, green, and blue pixels for excellent color sampling.
The Blackmagic URSA Cine platform also incorporates new advanced technologies for digital cinema, combined with full integration into the post-production workflow. This means it's the first platform for digital motion picture cameras with built-in, high-capacity storage, plus high-speed network connectivity for on-set media synchronization.
It also allows you to switch between PL, LPL and EF lens mounts. It even has wifi with SRT transmission for remote viewing of customers. In addition, the industry-standard Lemo and Fischer connections make it perfect for high-end film production.
