North America Strengthens Its Streaming Offer
DirecTV Stream Consolidates Under DirecTV.com
DirecTV in the United States dropped the "Stream" brand and consolidated all of its services under DirecTV.com. Now, the catalog includes free channels with ads, bundles by genre and traditional packages via streaming. The new DirecTV App centralizes the entire offer, marking a definitive departure from the satellite model.
Max Adds Extra Member Add-On
Max launched the Extra Member Add-On option in the United States. For USD 7.99/month, it allows you to share the account outside the home. Each additional member has their own login and individual access from a single device. In addition, the Profile Transfer function was incorporated, facilitating account migrations.
Impact TV+ Launches to Serve Black Families
Impact Network launched Impact TV+, a free streaming platform that offers culturally rich and values-based content aimed at African-American families in the U.S. The service expands the network's digital footprint, providing on-demand access to inspiring and uplifting programming.
Netflix improves subtitle options
Netflix now offers a new subtitle setting in the U.S. that shows only spoken dialogue in the original language, excluding audio cues. This feature debuted with the fifth season of You and will be implemented in all new original productions. Users can now choose between standard subtitles and SDH/CC subtitles, as well as customize the font size and type.
LATAM Expands Streaming Accessibility
Mercado Play Comes to Smart TVs
Mercado Libre launched the Mercado Play app for Smart TVs throughout LATAM. Available on Samsung, LG, Android TV and Google TV, it allows you to enjoy series, movies and documentaries for free and with ads. This expansion complements its previous availability on web and mobile.
Neo Telecom to launch new platform in Paraguay
Paraguayan internet provider Neo Telecom is developing its own streaming platform, which will include live channels, on-demand content, and personalized AI-based recommendations. It will be available for free for certain internet plans and is expected to be released soon.
Chile's Canal 13 is renewed for the digital age
Chile's Canal 13 presented a new logo and slogan, positioning itself as a modern producer of multiplatform content. This renovation modernizes the channel's image, while preserving its legacy and expanding its digital and streaming presence.
Disney+ offers ad-supported plans in LATAM
Disney+ now allows you to directly contract its standard plan with advertising in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico—beyond previous partnerships such as Mercado Libre. Users can choose between Premium, Standard, and Standard ad-supported plans.
Europe Bets on New Strategies
Max Launches Plan with Advertising in Spain, Portugal and Andorra
Max presented a plan with advertising in Spain and Andorra (EUR 6.99) and in Portugal (EUR 5.99). It also expanded its presence through Amazon Prime Video Channels. Warner Bros. Discovery and Pulsa Media will manage the ads in Spain.
MagentaTV offers free content in Germany
MagentaTV will allow free access to select content starting April 24. No subscription or registration will be required. Series such as The Handmaid's Tale, sports and festivals will be available, along with a full-access trial week.
BBC First reconverts into BBC NL
BBC First adopted the name BBC NL in the Netherlands. From Amsterdam, the channel now offers premium dramas with Dutch subtitles. New seasons of Miss Scarlet and All Creatures Great and Small headline the lineup.
Sportworld Launches Pay-Per-View on DACH
Sportworld started a pay-per-view service in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He debuted with the Copa del Rey final at EUR 2.99. Currently available on Samsung and LG TVs, future expansion to more devices and events is expected.
Asia Drives New Business Models
Max replaces BluTV in Turkey
Max arrived in Turkey, replacing BluTV. It offers both global and local content, with plans starting at $6/month. The Premium plan includes offline viewing and quality up to 4K. Eurosport sports content was also integrated, broadening the attractiveness of the offer.
Prime Video Adds Advertising in Japan
Prime Video implemented limited ads in Japan. Commercial breaks, of 15 to 30 seconds, are not skippable. Users can remove advertising by paying an additional $3/month. This update keeps the base Prime fare intact.
Global Market Expands Catalog
Unleashed by DOGTV: Free Streaming for Dog Lovers
OGTV Networks launched Unleashed by DOGTV, a 24/7 free channel for dog lovers. Available on Fire TV (U.S.), TugoTV (U.S./Canada) and YouTube, it offers more than 250 hours of English-language content, including expert advice and adoption shows.
Super Toons: Ad-Free Kids Content
Kedoo Entertainment launched Super Toons globally, available for $1.30. It offers content for children without ads, parental controls, and a screen limit of 15 minutes per day. It also expanded its FAST channels on TCL Channel and Xiaomi TV+ in Europe.
Max Renews Its Visual Identity Globally
Max debuted a new logo in black and white, abandoning its previous blue design. This update seeks to strengthen the connection with HBO's iconic image, reinforcing its premium positioning.
