Peru. Recently, Peru's Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) launched a Draft Decree to promote a "Connected Peru". This initiative seeks to expand connectivity through a strategic plan aimed at improving communications at the national level, promoting inclusive and truly connected development.
This effort has motivated numerous private sector companies to actively participate in the modernization and expansion of their services, adapting to robust technologies that offer stronger networks and far-reaching solutions to boost the country's economic and social development.
The implementation of 5G and fiber optic networks is advancing in Peru and Latin America, which is why Padtec, the leading Brazilian company in optical communications systems, presents the latest advances and technological solutions that help close the digital divide, given that less than 50% of rural areas have access to high-speed Internet.
In this context, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology is presented as a strategic solution. DWDM acts as an information highway, allowing the simultaneous sending of multiple data signals over a single optical fiber. This not only improves the speed and reliability of the Internet connection, but also optimizes infrastructure investments for 5G networks, essential for the future of connectivity in the country.
"From Padtec, we reaffirm our commitment to the telecommunications sector in Peru and Latin America. We seek to inspire and guide Internet Service Providers to strengthen the quality of their services and expand their expertise in connectivity and technology," said Jorge Mauricio Gualtero (Product Manager of Padtec Cala Norte).
According to the MTC and a recent report by the Peruvian Telecommunications Association (APTC), the challenge for 2025 is to achieve a high level of connectivity in the most vulnerable areas, benefiting not only the economic sector, but also promoting inclusion solutions in the educational field, thus guaranteeing the right to technology and communication.
The study highlights that the Peruvian telecommunications market generated approximately 5.3 billion dollars in 2023, with a constant growth of 4% per year since 2018. This sector is expected to reach $8.5 billion over the next decade, driven by the adoption of high-speed services and digital connectivity.
"The numbers speak for themselves: the telecommunications sector in Peru is one of the most productive, which represents a great opportunity for both established entrepreneurs and those who want to start a business. It is essential to continue promoting knowledge and providing the technologies, solutions and tools necessary to prepare the country for the challenges of digital transformation. At Padtec, we seek to connect with the community of Internet providers, sharing advanced solutions in DWDM and IP technology to optimize infrastructure, improve quality of service and facilitate scalability," added Gualtero.
