Colombia. The ICT Ministry awarded 23 productions that showed the best of their content in 'Regions Without Limits 2024'. The call summoned regional public television channels.
The proposals had to be aimed at the development of audiovisual content that makes visible the stories of people from the LGBTIQ+ social sectors and/or people with diverse gender identities, sexual orientations and corporeality.
"The Government is proud to lay the foundations for Colombia to become a leader in the protection of life, with an inclusive society, free of stereotypes and stigmas. With this call we want to strengthen national public television through the production of high-quality content that celebrates our diversity, to promote social inclusion, the protection of human rights and cultural change in Colombia," said ICT Minister Mauricio Lizcano.
In total, $2.551 million was awarded to 17 fiction miniseries of 6 chapters, granting a stimulus of $150 million per miniseries. In addition, incentives for $1,200 million were given to 6 60-minute documentary feature film productions, which benefited from this call.
Among the channels that won with their productions are: Canal TRO with 1 documentary and 1 miniseries; Telecafé with 2 documentaries and 2 miniseries; Telecaribe with 3 miniseries; Canal Trece with 3 miniseries; Teleantioquia with 2 miniseries; Telepacífico with 2 documentaries and 4 miniseries; Canal Capital with 1 miniseries and documentary, and Teleislas with 1 miniseries.
Thanks to this call, each regional channel had the opportunity to participate with a maximum of 6 proposals, to promote the convergence of LGBTIQ+ groups and audiovisual production companies that have projects aimed at this community, seeking strategic alliances for the realization of the content, which will be broadcast on public TV screens.
