Peru. IntekTV announced a special episode of its YouTube interview series, "Coloristas Hispanos", as part of the Blackmagic Week Peru 2024 event, which will take place in Lima the week of July 16.
"Coloristas Hispanos" is a window into the community of Spanish-speaking colorists, a space where the stories, experiences, and techniques of experts in the art of color are explored.
This special episode will be dedicated to film restoration and will feature the participation of renowned Peruvian colorist Fabio Bedoya. During the session, we'll discuss the uses of DaVinci Resolve in color restoration and scanning with the versatile Cintel Scanner. We will discuss what can be achieved with traditional tools and what new processes can be implemented to try to rescue as much information as possible from historical material.
With vast experience in film restoration projects in Peru, Bedoya has collaborated with important studios such as Paramount and Netflix. Currently, he works as a colorist at the company Guarango Cine in Peru and is a lead trainer at Filmworkz, where he instructs globally on the use of Phoenix and its suite of restoration tools.
The Blackmagic Design Cintel Scanner is an advanced tool for film digitization, offering exceptional scanning quality that enables the accurate restoration of old and deteriorated films. This technology is crucial to preserving cinematic heritage and bringing film classics back to life.
Mabel Mompó, COO of IntekTV,™ highlighted the importance of this episode: "Understanding more about the color restoration process offered by DaVinci Resolve is critical for all color grading professionals. Not only will this episode provide an in-depth look at recovery work, but it will also inspire others to explore the possibilities offered by advanced tools like the Cintel Scanner and DaVinci Resolve in film restoration. It is a topic that is very little explored in the color industry and promises to offer a unique and valuable perspective to participants."
Diego Yhamá, Master Trainer of DaVinci Resolve, is the charismatic host of the series. "As a color artist who is passionate about his work and our Hispanic roots, Diego is the perfect choice to present this series that pays homage to our colorists and is designed especially for them," added Mompó.
