Colombia. The National Administrative Department of Statistics, DANE, granted the National Television Authority the certificate of statistics of subscription television users, an important achievement for the television sector, because it makes the ANTV the official and only entity that can reliably issue figures in this area.
Ángela María Mora Soto, director of the ANTV, who received this important recognition from Mauricio Perfetti del Corral, Director of DANE, highlighted the important step that the entity has taken by receiving this certification. "For us it is a success and a very important achievement, to be able to show the citizens that we are the ones who have the figures, that we are the ones who have the reliable data on subscription television."
Achieving this degree has several benefits, among others, strengthening the relevance of the statistics produced by the entities that are part of the National Statistical System - SEN, which allows greater monitoring of public policies and facilitates decision-making. It also improves the credibility, integrity and transparency of the official statistics produced by these entities.
To obtain this certification, the DANE carries out a verification and accompaniment in the statistical processes of the entities and evaluates aspects such as transparency, relevance, access, timeliness and coherence of the statistics, after this process the institutions of the National Statistical System – SEN that participate in the certification process, must meet the quality requirements that the entity exposes.
Finally, national and international experts linked to the academy and selected by that entity, evaluate the statistical processes, formulating an improvement plan to the entities and monitoring it, to later grant the certification.
At the ceremony, certifications were also awarded to six State entities, among which are the National Television Authority – ANTV, the National Federation of Coffee Growers, the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Culture, the District Institute of Tourism and the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare.
