Latin America. Netflix, a company that provides video service over the Internet, began its foray into Latin America. Brazil was first on the launch schedule, which followed with Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia; countries such as Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, will receive the service no later than September 12.
This company, which works as an online video club, has more than 25 million users in the world and will have the challenge of venturing into a region marked by piracy and with still very low rates of connection to the network; the cost of the service ranges from $9 to be charged to Brazilians to $7 for most of the region.
The founder and CEO of this online video club, Reed Hastings, indicates that "we are committed to offering the same service, value and choice throughout the Americas"; taking into account the low prices proposed and the high figure of video consumption in the region.
