Canada. In order to provide reliable video supplies in any of the 156 multimedia classrooms and live stream events taking place on campus, the University of Ottawa installed Haivision's Makito ™ H.264 encoder and Furnace™ IP video system.
The Furnace IP enables secure video delivery to every screen and computer. This way, users can record from any source, apply metadata, and deliver the content either live or pre-recorded. Additionally, its InStream™ technology player works on all platforms and requires no installation or updates of the customer's system and when combined with the Makito H.264, produces end-to-end encrypted video.
Peter Maag, Haivision's executive vice president of marketing, said: "The facility demonstrates the high quality of video that can be maintained in the delivery of live and recorded content on educational campuses. The Furnace system provides a solid foundation for the university to continue to develop its media capabilities."
Likewise, according to Mark Gareau, director of multimedia distribution services, which is part of the Teaching and Learning Support Service (TLSS) of the University, "before choosing Haivision systems we evaluated numerous video delivery solutions and these products turned out to be the most solid and reliable, providing good communication support, which is important to establish a solid working relationship throughout the project".
