Mexico. According to the Federal Telecommunications Commission (Cofetel), satellite television in that country had a considerable rebound during 2010 compared to 2009, as it reported a growth of 83.8%.
Between the two years the number of subscriptions rose to 4.2 million users. The opposite happened with the cable television industry, which registered a growth of only 5.4% closing at 5.3 million subscribers.
In addition, the prices of restricted television fell to 1.13% compared to 2009. This analysis was part of the study that reveals that the telecommunications industry grew by 12.2% in 2010 in which satellite television made its contribution in addition to cellular telephony.
