Olympic Games with the best audio and video technology

International. For the XXIX Olympic Games to be held in Beijing, capital of the People's Republic of China, from August 8 to 24, 2008, the latest audio and video technologies have been arranged in order to present viewers, attendees and viewers each of the events in the highest resolution and definition. Since the International Olympic Committee initiated the Sponsor Program (TOP), some well-known companies have supported the Olympic Games. This year, Coca-Cola, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Kodak, Mc Donald's, Lenovo, Samsung, Visa and Panasonic will be the sponsors of the competitions.

The latter will be in charge of providing the audio and video systems as it has done since 1988. For many years the teams of this company have allowed to record uninterruptedly the competitions, as happened from August 13 to 29, 2004, when more than 3,200 hours of live sport were covered at the Athens Olympic Games; this was possible thanks to the recording format of the DVCPRO50 equipment of 50 Mbps and 4:2:2, the DVCPRO 50 VTR of Panasonic, and the new camcorders, as well as the P2 stages.

For 2008 Panasonic, will have exclusivity in audio and video at the Olympics, for which it has already invested millions of dollars in the production of equipment and installation as stated by Masumi Hirose, director of Panasonic Mexico.

The Japanese company will provide high definition equipment (HD Full) with which the video production will be carried out and the international television signal of the competitions will be transmitted, in addition to the ceremonies of the Olympic Games.

Each stadium will feature giant video screens, such as the approximately 100-square-meter Astrovision and LED  technology that are installed in Beijing's historic Tiananmen Square. There will also be RAMSA audio systems for voice and information to the public.

These systems and logically those developed by the company in the coming years, will be present at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, as Pansonic will continue to be the official sponsor of the audio and video equipment category so that the Olympics can be observed in high definition TV format.

Likewise, the Japanese company will install two thousand super dynamic III (SDIII) security camera systems, which have zoom and zoom functions and horizontal and vertical movements to cover the different sports scenarios. This aspect will also be supported by GE (General Electric), a firm that will provide security of people and facilities, lighting, water treatment and power generation.

As for security, fire protection systems, monitoring, alarms, intrusion detection, access control, etc. will be installed. The first baggage scanning systems for explosive detection in China were also installed at the airport. And for the lighting, LED systems will be used that will illuminate the central building of the Organizing Committee and the Olympic Logo, allowing an efficient and lasting use of light. This type of luminosity will be implemented in other spaces such as stadiums and roads.

The integration of audio and video, as well as lighting and security are aspects that will contribute to making this edition of the Olympic Games the most technologically advanced.
