The Mexican Association of Filmadoras, A.C., was established on November 12, 1981 in Mexico City in order to bring together a representative group of commercial production houses interested in working together to analyze the problems of production in Mexico, provide instruments and criteria for the professionalization of the medium and negotiate as a guild benefits for all affiliated producers.
Currently the association brings together more than 50 live action production houses and 10 animation houses in Mexico City, plus 10 production houses in Guadalajara, Jalisco that make up the Western Section and 3 companies that make up the North Section. All these companies are engaged in advertising production, although several of them have experience in feature films, video clips, documentaries and industrial video work.
The AMFI has concentrated on supporting the guild to carry out professional work, organizing work committees formed by its active partners, with the aim of developing or reviewing contracts for talent, technical staff and locations, agreements for distribution selection, special effects and animals.
Another objective of the AMFI is to keep its members informed about the development of both the specific medium of production and the advertising and film industry through an information package that is sent monthly to the members.
