AFMA, formerly known as the American Film Marketing Association, is the association for the television and independent film industries. AFMA produces and distributes films and programs that are made outside the seven major studios. AFMA members generate more than $4 trillion annually.
AFMA members include Artisan Entertainment, Discovery Communications, Franchise Pictures, Focus, Intermedia, Lions Gate, MDP Worldwide, Miramax, New Line and 130 independent film and television companies. They have also made some of the most acclaimed films of recent times such as: The Lord of the Rings, Dance with Wolves, Chocolate, Pulp Fiction, Driving Miss Daisy, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Last Emperor, Life is Beautiful, Shakespeare in Love, The Silence of the Innocents, Terminator 2, Doomsday, and Traffic, among others.
The association is also known for the annual event held in Los Angeles: The American Film Market. This event is one of the largest worldwide dedicated to the film market and attracts more than 7000 professionals from all over the world.
