Colombia. Barco, a distributor of Latin American digital cinema, and Cine Colombia, one of Colombia's largest film exhibition chains, created an agreement that includes the use of Barco projectors and switchers in all theaters in Colombia.Barco will supply 20 DP-1500 digital projection solutions that will be located in different cinema theaters in the Latin American country, each of these projectors has 2D and 3D projection, and will be configured with the ACS Barco-2048 switchers of alternative content. Cine Colombia has more than 200 screens in operation in the country.
The installation of Barco's solutions began at the end of 2009 in Bogotá, Cali and Medellín, the main cities of Colombia, and by 2010 the other projection systems will be deployed in secondary locations such as Cartagena, Barranquilla, Pereira, Armenia and Manizales.
Munir Falah, president and CEO of Cine Colombia, expressed great enthusiasm for this new alliance and assured that Barco's solutions meet the needs of the company due to their good performance, reliability and value.
The digital package selected by Cine Colombia, the DP-1500, is built specifically for screens up to 15 m (49') wide. The ACS-2048 is a peripheral developed for all Barco digital cinema installations. With these systems, the film exhibition chain will be able to expand the flow of theaters for business events, meetings and more.
