ATVC Open Letter

The president of ATVC makes an urgent appeal to the authorities of his country in the face of the serious situation of cable companies in Argentina.

Business union entity founded in 1980, which represents the cable industry nationwide in the Argentine Republic. Its members are independent operators, MSOs (multiple system operators), provincial cable TV associations, and suppliers of equipment and services to the industry.

On a permanent basis, ATVC develops the following activities:

Institutional Representation: before the Government, Congress, regulatory authorities, and various public administrative agencies, at the municipal, provincial and national levels. In the private sector, ATVC represents business associations in general, and especially those representing the media, local and international, authorial and trade union entities, public and private educational institutions, and other entities involved.

Advice: legal, tax, and technical, related to matters of the Cable industry

Technical Commission: formed by specialists in cable TV and telecommunications, who are in charge of evaluating and reporting on the possibility of application of new technologies, informing about new technical and regulatory standards, as well as organizing conferences for engineers and technicians from all over the country.

ATVC Magazine: monthly publication, launched in 1991, distributed free of charge to all cable operators in Argentina and the Southern Cone, to fellow organizations in the Americas, to officials and educators in our country, to the specialized media of the United States and Argentina, etc. It reflects the situation of the cable industry in our country, and in others. It also provides information on the latest in telecommunications, programming, regulations (regulations), suppliers in general, etc. The following institutions contribute monthly with their articles: TAP Latin America, SCTE and PROMAX & BDA.

ATVC Conference: ATVC Annual International Convention. Since 1989, the Association has developed this international convention once a year, which has become the most important event - in this area - in the Southern Cone, bringing together cable operators from Argentina and Latin America (especially from neighboring countries), its staff to industry professionals, educators, public officials, and providers of programming, equipment and services for cable, and telecommunications. ATVC offers exhibitors and attendees an ideal environment for business, to develop contacts, and discover new products. During the development of this event (closed to the general public), the ATVC Awards are given to the best productions for cable, and the Conferences and the Commercial Exhibition are developed.

ATVC Awards: Since 1993, ATVC awards the best cable TV productions. Since 2001, this event has been extended to Latin American countries. The objective is to promote the production of programs for cable TV. The members of the Jury are recognized specialists of the different categories that compete: news, education, documentaries, music, etc. The President of the Jury is the renowned filmmaker Eduardo Mignona. Traditionally, the ATVC Awards ceremony is part of the ATVC Conference.

ATVC is a member of:

- CEMCI - Independent Media Entrepreneurs Commission - brings together ATVC, ADIRA and AEDBA (newspapers), AAER (magazines), ARPA (radios) and ATA (open television).

- TEPAL - organization of Associations and Companies of Paid Television of Ibero-America.

- NATPE - National Association of Television Program Executives, United States.

- SCTE - Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers, United States.

- AIR - Ibero-American Association of Broadcasting.

- PROMAX & BDA, United States, an institution that trains Marketing and Graphic Design executives.

ATVC maintains permanent contacts with CANITEC (National Chamber of the Cable Television Industry - Mexico), CCTA (California Cable Television Association, United States), CUTA (Uruguayan Chamber of Television by Subscribers), TAP Latin America (programmers), and CABLELABS (Cable Television Laboratories, United States).
