Colombia. Although the Government's intention was to achieve the approval of the bill to modernize the ICT sector in the legislative period of 2018, due to the short time and criticism that the project has received, the discussion was postponed to the beginning of the legislative period.
According to the MINISTER OF ICT, Sylvia Constaín, this Bill is urgent for the country. Connecting the more than 20 million Colombians who still do not have broadband service and closing the digital divide is a priority for this Government, aware that technology and digital transformation are an engine of development and economic reactivation for Colombia.
During the coming weeks, the Ministry will continue to socialize the importance of the ICT Sector Modernization Bill, the social and economic benefits it will bring, and will take the opportunity to clarify the information that has been presented in some sectors of public opinion.
