Latin America. Felipe Luna has joined GatesAir as Managing Director for the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region. Under the leadership of Rich Redmond, President and International Managing Director, Luna will manage all sales and business development initiatives to increase regional market share and brand visibility. Luna will also oversee GatesAir's extensive sales team in the region and partner network.
Luna is a household name for GatesAir customers across the region, having spent 12 years as Regional Director for Harris Broadcast, the company from which GatesAir was born. Luna looks forward to working with GatesAir/Harris clients, many of whom introduced the company during his first term. He is also motivated to introduce GatesAir to new customers navigating the challenges of digital streaming and IP transitions.
"CALA remains a dynamic and exciting market with great business opportunities, as many countries are beginning their digital TV transitions. GatesAir's market-leading innovations in high-efficiency transmission position the company for greater success at CALA, where we power some of today's largest airline networks with a very low total cost of ownership. My goal is to expand our level of service across the region, and offer turnkey wireless solutions that solve problems and create new revenue opportunities for our TV and radio customers," said Luna.
The new manager brings a rare combination of technical expertise and entrepreneurship to his new role. He spent six years as an account and sales manager at Eletro Equip Telecom before joining Harris Broadcast in 2002, representing industry-leading providers in the broadcast, telecommunications and broadband markets. His responsibilities included technical and commercial proposals for free-to-air and pay-TV systems, with an emphasis on equipment sales, consulting, and design and installation services.
Since then, Luna has focused on business development and managing partner roles outside of the broadcast industry, including Brazil's largest restaurant company, Coco Bambu. He moved to Miami and then joined the law firm hayman Woodward as Director of Business Development, where he led a team on four continents and substantially increased revenue.
"Felipe has exceeded expectations in his professional and leadership roles, with a strong track record in building brand awareness, new market introductions and financial growth in dynamic business environments. We are fortunate to welcome Felipe to the GatesAir family, where his industry knowledge, sales experience and emphasis on customer relations will help the company expand its regional momentum throughout the Caribbean and Latin America," said Redmond.
