Colombia. The cable television network Has launched an innovative news production system based on MOS technology for the management and automation of workflows. This will provide the system with speed, ease of use and integration with social networks.
The solution provided seeks to replace Avid's iNews and integration with the Octopus news writing platform that is currently operating on the television station, with licenses for 35 journalists, and a centralized storage for production of 180 TB through the XSAN system, which hosts the original and edited content in a transparent way to streamline the flow of each stage of news production, from the correspondents at the scene until the presenter narrates to the audience the events with the help of the teleprompter, which in the case of Cable Noticias will be carried out through the MOS integration of Autoscript units.
An important requirement to solve was the integration of social networks since in Colombia the high use of social media generates interest among the audience who have found in twitter a tool to interact with the contents of the broadcasts and in turn viewers are also interested in listening to opinion leaders, that octopus' Social Media Hub module has made more agile since it allows information from social networks directly in the interface, thus giving journalists the facility to include these contents in their notes.
Colombia is among the first countries with the highest number of twitter users worldwide, which opens the way for a module of this type not only to help journalists add a distinctive touch in their report but also helps broadcasters to generate the interest of a younger audience.
"After having had numerous successful installations around the world, especially in Europe and Asia, we have begun to receive inquiries in Latin America since Octopus follows a much freer licensing model, it is a proprietary software and that has given us the advantage of meeting the requirements of adapting to any project," said Carole Pigeard, sales manager for Latin America-
For his part, Hernán Pinzón, CEO of Tools 4 Media mentioned that the speed of the workflow and the MOS integration with which automation is coordinated was the key to choosing the winning company, so, after studying the proposed architecture in detail, the final decision was made.
Tools 4 Media has been in the sector for more than 15 years, they have given validity to this solution after the installation and tests of the system, in just three days it was possible to install and configure the complete system and launch the change of technology made by channel, as well as part of the proposed work each of the people in Cable Noticias were trained to satisfaction to learn to work in the system.
Currently the system facilitates operations in Cable News that broadcasts nationally in Colombia through 12 public channels and 5 channels on Pay TV.
