Colombia. After participating in the Cartagena International Film Festival, the 'Cinema for All' project continues to provide access to cinematographic enjoyment for people with disabilities through their inclusion in Eurocine, a sample of contemporary European cinema.
His participation in Eurocine took place last Saturday, April 25 with the film El lenguaje del corazón, screened in cinemas in Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Cali, Ibagué, Medellín, Montería and Armenia.
'The Language of the Heart' is a French film that tells the inspiring story of a deafblind young woman who learns to communicate assertively and to be independent thanks to the dedication of the person who cares for and educates her. The tape is suitable for people over seven years of age. The film has audio description technology that narrates the scenes to the visually impaired, and subtitles in Spanish and sign language for those with hearing disabilities.
A cultural inclusion project
'Cine Para Todos', is an initiative that aims to offer film screenings that can be enjoyed by the visually and hearing impaired population of Colombia in the company of their family and friends. This successful project emerged in 2012 addressing the need for these populations to have greater accessible entertainment and cultural spaces.
The functions include films intervened with audio description technology, a support system that takes advantage of the dialogue-free times of the original audio to thoroughly describe the situation, characters, objects, gestures, movements and other elements that maintain the common thread of the film. In 2014 'Cinema for All' brought together 11,833 people through 107 performances in six cities of the country.
To enjoy "Cinema for All", people with visual or hearing disabilities and up to two companions, should only approach the last Saturday of each month, to the selected cinemas of Cine Colombia in Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Bucaramanga, Ibagué, Barranquilla in which the screenings will be held.
Admission to 'Cinema for All' is free. The dates, times and titles of the functions of the 2015 cycle of "Cinema for All" can be consulted through the official websites of the institutions involved in the planning and execution of the project: MinTIC - Cine para Todos, Saldarriaga and Concha y Cine Colombia, spaces in which additional information can also be consulted.
What is WhatsCine?
WhatsCine, a free application for Smartphone and Tablet. This tool turns the movie theater into an accessible place that allows blind people to listen to the audio description of the tape without interfering with the audio of the rest of the spectators and deaf people, see the subtitles and sign language.
Likewise, people with hearing disabilities who attend the Cine Colombia theaters located in the Gran Estación Shopping Center in Bogotá, will be able to access sign language, through special glasses that will be provided during their entrance to the function.
