Radio in Latin America remains a strong medium. In different Latin American countries, governments are looking for ways to provide more options to audiences, both in AM and FM, many of them with a social focus. And the answer is a broad interest in new frequencies. Let's look at some cases.
Mexico's IFT is in the process of delivering 234 fm and 85 am frequencies. These stations were delivered in 40 concessions to groups located in 23 states. The delivery of these concessions ended on August 8.
In the case of Argentina, Enacom has been delivering frequencies for new radio stations in different regions of the country. The most recent closed on July 22 and was aimed at Santa Fe and Santa Cruz. In the coming months there will be tenders for Tucumán, Mendoza, Chaco and Corrientes.
For its part, Peru's Ministry of Transport and Communications is working hard to control radio stations that operate illegally, mainly in the country's capital. There are constant operations to dismantle the transmitters that affect the signal, while it advances bidding processes for new frequencies.
And in Chile, 2022 is a special year for the radio industry, since 100 of the arrival of this medium in the country are commemorated. For this, from the government and the associations of the sector have prepared various celebrations, with contents for the broadcasters and academic days.
Undoubtedly, radio continues to grow in the region and the most benefited are the audiences.
