Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) held the second session of the Technical Committee on 5G Deployment in Mexico, 5G Committee, in which the Work Plan was presented and the microsite was announced in which all the information generated in the various sessions of the working groups and the Committee will be housed.
This Plan includes the form, dates and development of the sessions of the 5G Committee, as well as the Work Plans of each of the tables for:
- Prepare contributions containing proposals to the Institute to promote the development and deployment of 5G in Mexico.
- Discuss and analyze techniques and strategies to propose to the Institute an effective implementation of 5G in Mexico.
- Exchange opinions, criteria and points of view among members of the Committee regarding the needs, strategies, foresight and studies of 5G in Mexico.
- Propose to the Institute mechanisms that facilitate the effective implementation of 5G and its use cases in Mexico.
- Provide inputs to the Institute, through contributions regarding the needs, strategies, prospective, studies and use cases on 5G in Mexico.
As part of the Work Plan, several points were observed indicated in the Operating Rules of the 5G Committee in relation to how they will convene and carry out the sessions, as well as the participations and people invited. It is foreseen that the members of the Committee will have a voice and vote, while the public servants of the Institute registered in the 5G Committee, will only have a voice, without the right to vote and will not count for the purposes of the quorum.
The Working Groups may generate preliminary technical opinions as a result of the analysis, discussion and integration of proposals or inputs provided by their members, which may be submitted to the Committee for consideration, as working documents when they have been approved by the majority of its members, in accordance with Rule 27 of the Rules of Operation, for which they will be sent to the Technical Secretary, in order to bring them to the attention of the Committee.
The working documents will be submitted for approval by the 5G Committee, when they have been approved by a majority of votes of the members, so that, as contributions, they are made known to the Plenary of the Institute, by the Technical Secretary, accompanied by the information presented in this regard during the sessions and, where appropriate, of the positions of the members of the Committee, so that they constitute technical opinions that are not binding on the Institute.
The Technical Committee on the Deployment of 5G in Mexico is a technical body to support the IFT, of a consultative and non-binding nature, which will allow interaction between the Institute, industry, academia, public entities and any interested person, to expose the needs, strategies, foresight and studies of current and future 5G, with the purpose of elaborating contributions that will serve as input, so that the Institute promotes an efficient development of this technology in Mexico.
