Peru. América Televisión and Canal N, owned by Plural TV Group, have invested in Dalet Unified News Operations technology, powered by Dalet Galaxy five, to consolidate the production and distribution of news from both channels into a single system that comprehensively supports newsroom staff, from home and remotely.
Based in Lima, Peru, América Televisión offers a wide range of programming, from thematic programs, reality shows and general news. Also based in Lima, Canal N focuses on country news, current affairs and political programs.
After decades of editorial and archival processes of the two news operations working separately, the group took a transformative step to consolidate the old and isolated infrastructures under Dalet's new technology, providing continuity to content management and news development. The operational upgrade of the dual channel, led by Dalet's partner company Connect Media, included the installation of an editorial technology that provided a centralized archive to manage agencies and content, with tools to facilitate news planning, editing, graphics and publishing.
Dalet's news-centric approach builds the story around media assets, improving storytelling development, content transparency, and access across the two newsrooms, whose missions leverage the same content for different program outcomes.
"Dalet's news platform was designed to fit the way our journalists, editors, news directors, graphics and camera crews want to work," explains Javier Vásquez Mendoza, Head of Operations and Support Engineering, América Televisión. "Everything is interconnected. Centralized access to content facilitates the development of the story both from the newsroom, remotely or from home, as many journalists had to do due to the restrictions of the pandemic." Javier adds, "Dalet's digital tools make it easy to connect from anywhere, at any time in the work process. It's designed to support our hybrid workflow with greater transparency about how we're using content."
Dalet Unified News Operations' platform enables América TV and Canal N to manage the development and production of news for television channels and online content. Dalet Brio supports 16 ingest channels and has the ability to edit breaking news as the material is recorded on the storage server, as well as to play all news packages and programs on the air. The capabilities included in Dalet Galaxy five for content handling track metadata, ensuring that content is extremely easy to search and accessible to authorized personnel on and off the premises.
