Latin America. Due to the high costs for a medium and small broadcast company to renew its low-power transmitters, more and more are leading, from their engineering area, the updating of equipment. Even this has happened with analog-to-digital transmitters.
David García, director of international sales of Broadcast Concepts, explained to TVyVideo+Radio magazine that this is a trend that is growing in the region mainly because of the economic issue, seeking to extend the life of the equipment, investing in what is really needed.
"Not only does it represent a saving, they can make more efficient the equipment that at the time was very good and today no longer works so well. We see it in countries like Chile, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala. In Colombia they are just beginning," he said.
This is precisely part of the service provided by Broadcast Concepts, to help upgrade the transmitters, both by doing the complete upgrade work, and by selling the parts required for the upgrade.
They achieve this thanks to the fact that they have a production plant equipped with the latest technology and a trained human team, which gives them the opportunity to customize, another of the characteristics of the company, to make solutions tailored to their customers.
This trend occurs in transmitters of low power and up to five kilowatts, depending on the experience and capacity of the engineers who perform the process. Higher power transmitters do usually buy them new.
David García concluded that the type of sale in which he makes from Broadcast Concepts is not of boxes, it is of solutions. "We offer the customer the solution they need, not what we have in stock."
