F65 Camera Receives Academy Award for Science

Latin America. Sony's CineAlta F65 digital cinema camera has been awarded at the Science and Engineering Awards, awarded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Genesis, jointly developed by Sony and Panavision, has also received an award.

The F65 is Sony's flagship large sensor camera. The 20-megapixel F65, equipped with a single 8K CMOS image sensor, has achieved the highest resolution in the industry for a Super 35mm camera. With a combination of peripherals, including recorders, the F65 is capable of recording high-quality image data in selectable RAW modes that allow you to reduce file sizes.

Since its introduction in 2011, the camera has been used to make all kinds of recordings in HD, 4K and beyond, both in film, television and documentaries as well as in live entertainment and sports events, advertisements and visiting spaces.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has recognized the F65 for "its pioneering high-resolution image sensor, excellent dynamic range and Full 4K output", as well as for the "exclusive work with photosites and authentic RAW recording, which offer exceptional image quality", made by Sony.

The Genesis®, jointly developed by Sony and Panavision®, features a single 12.4-megapixel Super 35mm CCD, arranged in a 1950x1080 matrix. It was the first sensor available on the market in 2005 with a coupling to a 35 mm spherical cinematic lens.

It has also received a Science and Engineering Award from the Academy, for being a pioneering digital film camera, since the design, using accessories and a familiar format, allowed it to become one of the first digital cameras adopted by cinematographers.
