Latin America. American Latino Theatre, a nonprofit and Latin Heat Media, LLC, have partnered in a joint venture to launch LatinHeat Cinema, an online streaming service that will target Latino movie consumers, allowing them to watch productions of Latino-themed movies and stars, which are not available through traditional movie distribution.
The idea for LatinHeat Cinema, aimed at Latino audiences, is an original idea of filmmaker and entrepreneur David Llauger-Meiselman who has spent the last two years studying closely, monitoring, examining and witnessing the disintegration of traditional film distribution.
"It's devastating for independent filmmakers, as I personally know, because there's no way, basically, to get our films to the masses," Llauger-Meiselman said. "There's really no hope for most filmmakers to secure a decent distribution deal in the traditional sense." Adding, "It doesn't matter how much their film cost, its great quality and the strong story they tell; the odds are against you ever getting your film seen by the public, and no chance to recoup its costs."
LatinHeat Cinema (www.LatinHeatCinema.com) will release on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in conjunction with the Los Angeles premiere of Llauger-Meiselman's strike one. Strike One is an urban drama about Hispanics in the United States and an award-winning independent film whose focus is on the effects of the unjust and cruel Tres Strikes Act on Latino youth.
Llauger-Meiselman partnered with Latin Heat Media LLC, an integrated multimedia entertainment company; and an established brand serving Latinos in the entertainment industry, and its CHIEF Executive Officer and President, Bel Hernandez Castillo, CEO/President. Llauger-Meiselman and Hernandez Castillo bring years of experience working with Latino filmmakers and have worked closely together to develop this online cinema screen with the ability to reach the majority of Latino movie consumers through the multiple digital platforms available: laptops, smartTVs, tablets and mobile devices.
LatinHeat Cinema targets the most desired audience in the entertainment world: Latino moviegoers, who contribute to 25% of domestic box office revenues, and are in the coveted age groups of 18-24 and 25-39 youth. "And, we're going to push to get far beyond the borders of the United States," Llauger-Meiselman said. "Our reach is global."
