International. Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a definitive agreement to acquire Elemental. The acquisition brings together the market's leading software-defined video company with the world's leading cloud infrastructure provider.
According to both companies, together they intend to provide companies around the world with the means to efficiently scale their video infrastructures as the industry moves to delivery over the Internet. "The video market is currently at a major turning point, and of a magnitude that only occurs in a few decades. The trends around multi-screen, mobility, IP infrastructure, and the cloud are all in their infancy," they said in a statement.
Elemental will continue to provide world-class software-based solutions that can be deployed on appliances, virtual machines or in the cloud. The combined entity will provide customers with more choice and infrastructure scalability than ever before.
Elemental will operate as an independent business within AWS and maintain support, sales, development, existing operations, and marketing teams. It is elemental's intention to maintain all existing customer, business and technology relationships.
