TOKYO, 8 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The manufacturer of cameras and photographic equipment Nikon obtained in the first quarter of 2013 a net profit of 4,436 million yen (34.5 million euros), which is 71.9% less than the 15,770 million yen (122.7 million euros) it earned in the same period of the previous year, according to the company in a statement.
The Japanese company's net sales reached 238,981 million yen (1,859 million euros) in the first quarter of its fiscal year, which ended on June 30, which is 7.9% less than the 259,431 million yen (2,018 million euros) of the same period of the previous year.
Specifically, the company highlights the fall in sales of steppers and integrated circuit scanners, as well as the fact that sales targets have not been reached in America, Europe and Asia (excluding China) in its image division, due to "weak" sales in the camera markets.
After these results, the company has revised downwards its sales forecasts, by 70,000 million yen (544 million euros), and profit, by 15,000 million yen (117 million euros).
