Steve Jobs considered leaving the professional market

MADRID, 12 Aug. (Portaltic/EP) -

Ken Segall, author of the book Insanely Simple: The Obsession That Drives Apple's Success, and head of advertising campaigns for the company as important as Think Different continues to make shocking revelations. Now he has assured that Steve Jobs considered leaving aside the market for professionals

The writer and publicist states on his website that the main reason that Jobs had to think about this was the success that products like the iMac were having and the amount of resources involved in maintaining this niche market, especially that of the pro market.

To support this idea, it is also based on what it has cost to keep the company's products on the market such as the Mac Pro or the Final Cut Pro program. Jobs' reasoning was none other than to think that consumer products have an unlimited positive side, while professional products are aimed at a niche market that consumes large resources.

Obviously, the pro market has great value for Apple, even if the profits it generates are relatively small. Pros are opinion leaders, influential people. His veneration for Apple is shown in the influence towards his relatives to buy products of the brand.

Therefore, and as is obvious, Steve Jobs finally renewed his commitment to the pros and to the company, although he never said that this commitment would not evolve or change. Thus, it is evident that Apple decided to change its thinking about the professional market, and about how it can best serve its professional users.

They decided that they should not lose their potential customers, although not professionals. It invites the wider audience of consumers to understand, enjoy and benefit from the app. And, at the same time, they keep happy and fulfilling the expectations with the pros.

The new Mac Pro, coming later this year, represents a similar philosophy. It's easy to use, has simple design with expandability via Thunderbolt instead of internal slots and bays. Just connect everything you need.

It sends an encouraging message to the professional market: "Apple has not forgotten you." More than an upgrade, it's a reinvention of one of the oldest computer categories. It's something only Apple could do.

It only remains to hope that this new Model of Mac triumphs among the public and does not follow the same path as the disappeared 17-inch MacBook Pro.
