Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, through the General Directorate of Telecommunications Authorizations (DGAT), began the first public tender of 2024 for the award of 78 frequencies for the sound broadcasting service in various regions of the country.
This public tender includes the offer of frequencies for 14 locations in the Frequency Modulation (FM) band and for 4 locations in the Medium Wave (OM) band, covering a total of 16 regions of the Peruvian territory.
The Deputy Minister of Communications, Carla Sosa Vela, highlighted the importance of this contest as an opportunity for the development of broadcasting in the country. "This contest reflects our commitment to diversity and the democratization of the media in all regions of Peru. We want to promote an environment conducive to the growth of broadcasting, ensuring equal access and a transparent process," he said.
The localities included in the contest belong to the departments of Ancash, Apurímac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, La Libertad, Madre de Dios, Piura, Puno, San Martín and Ucayali, for the frequency modulation (FM) band; as well as to the regions of Lima, Moquegua, Piura and Puno, for the Onda Media (OM) band.
The selection process is carried out by an evaluation and proposal reception committee, which ensures transparency and a level playing field for all participants.
