End-Users Explore New Brands, Traditional Brands Remain Relevant

Usuarios finales exploran nuevas marcas, tradicionales mantienen relevancia

Latin America. In an industry as dynamic and in constant technological development as broadcast, the offer of technologies and brands is increasing, which means that the purchasing decisions of end users are made with greater analysis.

Edson Marion, President of Merlin Distributor, said: "In our region, there is a growing inclination towards exploring new brands, especially when they offer significant innovations or better value. However, traditional brands remain relevant, especially in the broadcast sector where reliability and technical support are critical. At Merlin Distributor, we seek to maintain a balance."

Today, the most sought-after technologies in the region, according to Merlin's experience, are those that allow for the most agile, efficient and high-quality production and distribution. PTZ cameras, IP protocols such as NDI for local production and SRT for remote production stand out. In addition, there is a growing interest in augmented and virtual reality technologies, indicative of a global movement towards more immersive experiences.

All of these technologies have meant major changes for the industry. "The growing demand for high-quality content and the expansion of streaming platforms have transformed not only the production and distribution of content, but also the way consumers access and experience it. Digitalization, cloud solutions, along with remote production and the implementation of artificial intelligence, have revolutionized working methods, making them more flexible and efficient."

All these technological dynamics mean that by 2024, the company will have a positive outlook. "We anticipate sustained growth for both Merlin Distributor and the industry in our region. We are committed to expanding our distribution network and strengthening relationships with our partners, while introducing innovative technologies that respond to the needs of the Latin American market."

Finally, regarding NAB Show 2024, he pointed out that "We seek for NAB to be a meeting point where our customers and partners can interact closely with the latest innovations in audiovisual production. We are very interested in strengthening the relationships we have already built and exploring new collaborations that can benefit the Latin American market. Our team is ready and eager to support our partner brands in introducing their new products to Latin America."
