Mexico. With innovative products based on growing technologies, such as artificial intelligence, EVS held the first celebration in Latin America of the 30th anniversary of its founding in Mexico.
Of Belgian origin, EVS officially started in 1994, and therefore summoned customers, users, and diplomatic staff, to an event at the Belgium Residence in Mexico City to share the achievements and announce the challenges to come for the company.
The celebration was kicked off by the country's ambassador, Johan Verkammen, who said: "EVS is a Belgian company, a world leader in live video systems. 30 years is a major challenge in the technology sector. For three decades, EVS has been at the forefront of revolutionizing how we capture and deliver engaging visual content to audiences around the world."
Highlighting the company's steady growth over three decades, Alfredo Cabrera, VP Sales LATAM at EVS, said: "Our first activity celebrating 30 years is in Mexico. We have more than 50% of jobs, which are more than 600 people currently, dedicated to research and development, in addition to private research and development teams that we have hired to follow a few specific development. We're working on a lot of things. We bought Axon, a company with more than 27 years in the European market that has a global projection with excellent products."
He stressed that one of the company's major themes is the development of artificial intelligence, which already has extensive antecedents: "About five or six years ago, at NAB, we began to present to customers what we interpreted as artificial intelligence and machine learning. That project was validated and we took on the task of hiring around seven or eight artificial intelligence data scientists and they have been employed for eight or 10 years at EVS today. The first artificial intelligence that was presented was around four or five years ago, using the Xeebra VAR and the offside line, it's completely artificial intelligence."
And he previewed part of the EVS projects in the future. "As of today we have speech-to-text, facial recognition, we have eight experiments that will be turned into products in the next 18 months or 24 months. We have our own artificial intelligence, which is based on video. Amazon or Google have artificial intelligence but based on data. Our video-based artificial intelligence provides a completely different experience to the user."
For NAB Show 2024, he assured that they will show new solutions aimed at the news environment, in addition to sports. "We have applications dedicated to a news environment, which is very interesting for us, where we understand that it is an environment where a media asset management is the evolution of PAM to a MAM. And much more artificial intelligence that will help not only news solutions, but sports applications, new servers and many other things. There are many, many that are cooking within EVS, a lot of evolution that has happened in the last three or four years and that we are going to continue to grow."
He concluded: "This year's Olympic Games will demonstrate how innovative EVS has been in terms of infrastructure. We have a participation, I would say the largest of all time, in the Olympic Games."
