Colombia. Currently, Secuoya Latin America has become an important division of the group and a transversal axis thanks to its capacity for the creation, production and distribution of audiovisual and digital content, as well as including in its portfolio all the services provided by the group in Spain. This relationship is the beginning of the creation and constant production of local content that has an international projection.
Approximately 600 million people live in Latin America. According to BB Media, around 74 million people have an active subscription to streaming platforms and 66 million households have access to pay TV. The figures make Latin America a relevant audience for Ibero-American audiovisual services and products companies, particularly Spanish companies such as Secuoya Content Group, which are looking to consolidate a global strategy.
That is why Daniel Hernández Bocanegra, general director of Secuoya Latin America, expresses that: "Due to the good moment that the industry is going through in the region and seeing that Latin American countries have advanced in the creation of incentive frameworks that seek to attract international productions to their territories through financial benefits such as cash rebates, investment certificates and subsidies. Filming of the stature of Hollywood has been carried out in recent years in countries such as Colombia thanks to these fiscal stimuli. However, this growth poses new needs and challenges in training and infrastructure", and that is where Secuoya Studios comes in facing the challenge of working together with projects that require the best content at a technical and narrative level.
Colombia is more than the headquarters where Secuoya Latin America continues its consolidation. It also represents the development and production of content. This goal is reflected in the important co-production agreements that were signed with local companies, such as the one announced at Iberseries with CMO Producciones, and the one previously announced with Caracol Television.
Additionally, the company seeks to expand its portfolio by providing production services to international clients who want to produce in Colombia, due to the country's growth and reception in audiovisual projects.
An example of this level of expansion of Secuoya Studios is the blockbuster, 'Zorro' starring Miguel Bernardeau and Renata Notni; and directed by Javier Quintas (Money Heist), which will be distributed by Mediawan Rights. The ten-episode series, filmed in the Iberian country, will be available on PrimeVideo during the first half of 2024 in Latin America, the United States, Spain, Andorra and Portugal. This ambitious production from the studio revives one of the greatest heroes of modern culture and is aimed at long-time fans of the iconic character and also at new generations.
Likewise, Secuoya Studios is preparing for the launch of new projects, two of them together with William Levy's production company. In addition, 'Los 39' and 'Terra Alta'; the adaptation of the Turkish hit 'Brave and Beautiful'; the film 'Padres' in collaboration with Álamo Producciones Audiovisuales and the Spanish version of the international docureality 'Who Bares Wins'.
