Colombia. According to ICT Minister Mauricio Lizcano, 49 million citizens, inhabitants of 832 municipalities, already have access to digital terrestrial television -DTT-, the remaining 7% of the Colombian population is waiting for the arrival of this technology to their regions.
Therefore, he called on traditional media to accelerate the coverage studies they are carrying out in some areas with a view to determining the impact that the migration to DTT would have on their audiences, in this way the implementation of the last phase of the project will be expedited.
"DTT is key to the development of the country, the project is almost 93% to be able to activate, we only need 7%, we have already done the most, we have the minimum left. We have a path designed to do it and it is fully structured, it would be a big public policy mistake not to activate the transition plan. We must sit down with private television operators to see how, without losing audiences, we can really move this forward and be in the best way," Minister Lizcano said.
During the installation of the Asomedios assembly, the ICT leader also announced the creation of an internal team of experts in television, radio and press within the Ministry, which will lead working groups with the traditional media to reconcile agendas and advance strategic issues in the sector.
