Latin America. To mark the tenth anniversary of the M18 daylight head, the company ARRI is offering a special edition of this device, limited to 500 units. The spotlights, which will sport the anniversary logo on the case, will be ready to start shipping in August.
The M18 was first presented in 2009 at the IBC fair as the second model of the M-Series after the great ARRIMAX. This extremely compact and powerful 1800W daylight head combines the optical system of the ARRIMAX – which received an Award for Scientific and Technical Achievement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – with the design of the True Blue Series.
Since its launch the M18 has enjoyed great popularity and has become an integral part of almost any film set in the world. He has recently illuminated the feature films "Dunkirk" and "Sauerkrautkoma", as well as the series "Dark", "Parfum" and "The Alienist". "What I like most about the M18 is its versatility, combined with its compact size and incredible performance. The easy handling of the M18 and the fact that it can be used with household plugs make it a good choice for my shots," confirms Michael Matuschek, filmmaker and commercial gaffer.
Even after ten years, its certified system has not undergone significant changes. With the same size as a 1200 W lamp with parabolic reflector, the M18 provides approximately 70% more light output while maintaining the same color quality. The M18 device of the M-Series can be adjusted between 20° and 60° and like all luminaires of the M-Series, it does not need any drop-in lens. It can be operated without the need for a generator almost anywhere in the world using household plugs. The waterproof and easy-to-maintain M18 meets IP23 requirements and is therefore ideal for outdoor use.
Today, the ARRI M-Series comprises the following devices: ARRIMAX, M90, M40, M18 and M8. For all daylight systems ARRI offers an extended warranty of 5 years.
