Colombia. SmartFilms, the first film festival made with cell phones in Colombia, in its fifth edition opens its 2019 call from April 3 in Colombia and April 23 in Mexico for its second version.
For 4 years, SmartFilms has contributed to the orange economy, generating a Product Placement format, whose main objective is to encourage large brands, bet on content and our participants, show them the alternatives of content monetization that exist. This year it will have three categories and the genres will be protagonists:
1. Professional Category. Aimed at professional filmmakers, with experience and experience in the audiovisual world, this year the stories delivered by the participants will be seven minutes.
2. Motorola Amateur Category. (Phone Life Stories) Cell phones in the world were made to connect people, but apparently today they disconnect them. In this category will participate stories inspired by the disconnection that the cell phone has generated from the world around us, starting from the premise of "Connect with those who are far away, without disconnecting from those who are close". The short films can be made within the genres of drama, comedy, fiction, action and fantasy.

• What if instead of recording your favorite singer you enjoy that concert for which you paid so much?
• What if you ban your cell phone when you're having lunch with your friends?
What if you get inspired by Black Mirror in this category? Do not forget that in this category you can NOT see within the short film a cell phone of another brand that is not Motorola, although you can record it with the brand of cell phone you prefer, however, if within the short you show us a Motorola cell phone of any generation, surely this will be a plus.
3. Youth Category Nosotras (Bullying For Loving). The category is for our young people between the ages of 13 and 17. Stories of loving: It is a manifesto of creation of stories that will help transform the new generations using the argument of bullying as a starting point and conflict within the stories; this will allow to expose the problems and alternative solutions proposed by the participants.
This year the challenge with which they can exploit all their creativity, will be to tell a story where bullying is defeated by loving. It can be a story of its own, that of a friend, a friend, an acquaintance, etc. The important thing is that the message is that security, self-love and self-confidence make bullying change to loving. Under the promise of inclusion, prevention and empowerment of the bullying for loving campaign, a new facet of the Youth Category is built, a scenario where adolescents from 13 to 17 years of age will have the opportunity to create stories of maximum 5 minutes in length, inspired by the conflict of bullying and ending with a message of security and trust.
*Participants must bear in mind that the submission of the material must be made between April 3 and as a final date on July 13, after this day no stories of contestants will be received.
On September 6, 7 and 8, the short films that will be chosen in the Official Selection 2019 will be screened; At the same time, the Smartfilms 2019 Congress will be held at the Cafam Theater, film lovers will be able to be accredited to this congress.
