Colombia. With the presence of Eduardo Martínez, president of Archi, together with the directors Jaime Ahumada, vice president and Néstor Jofré, director, the Board of Directors of the AIR met in Bogotá, Colombia, to celebrate its year-end meeting.
The event was organized by the National Media Association, Asomedios, and delegations of broadcasters and experts from countries of the three Americas participated.
Among the issues addressed in the AIR conclave were the crisis in Nicaragua, advances in internet connectivity in Latin America, and threats against freedom of expression in different countries of the region such as Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador.
Likewise, the new digital platforms available for broadcasting and the work to be carried out in different countries on the radio chip in cell phones was discussed in depth, a topic that in the case of the Association of Broadcasters of Chile has been addressed in the meetings held recently with the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications, Subtel, in view of the promotion and activation of the chip in smartphones.
