IFT published comparable Telcos rate report 2018

Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) released the "Report of Comparable Information of Plans and Rates of Non-Residential Fixed Telecommunications Services (Single, Double and Triple play) 2018", relating to the fixed services of Internet, Telephony and Pay Television in the three contracting modalities.

The report contemplates the current offer of non-residential fixed telecommunications services, available on the electronic pages of the concessionaires, until January 10, 2018 and has as its main objective, to provide information that allows users to compare and make better informed decisions, as well as analyze the offer of the concessionaires.

Among the main findings of the Comparable Information Report on Plans and Rates for Non-Residential Fixed Telecommunications Services are:

Non-Residential Fixed Internet
We analyzed 27 Non-Residential Fixed Internet plans in the Single Play mode offered by the Dealers with the highest representativeness in the market and that include a download speed from 2 Mbps to 200 Mbps.

41% of the plans analyzed offer a download speed greater than 20 Mbps, 33% include a download speed of 10 to 20 Mbps and 26% a download speed of less than 10 Mbps.

In the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro and Veracruz, non-residential fixed Internet service is offered by 3 Concessionaires; while in Colima, Nayarit, Quintana Roo and Tabasco only one dealer offers it.

Non-Residential Pay TV
For this service, 18 plans corresponding to the current and available offer of the dealers with the greatest representativeness in the market were analyzed.

The plans offer between 24 to 263 channels. 50% of plans offer more than 100 channels, 33% from 51 to 100 channels and 17% offer up to 50 channels.

67% of plans include only standard definition (SD) channels and 33% of plans incorporate both standard and high definition (HD) channels.

In Jalisco, five dealerships offer Non-Residential Pay-TV service, in contrast to the states of Colima, Durango, Nayarit, Quintana Roo and Tabasco where only two concessionaires offer the service.

Non-Residential Fixed Telephony
Three Non-Residential Fixed Telephony plans were analyzed in the Single Play modality, offered by the concessionaires with the greatest representativeness in the market.

All the plans analyzed include unlimited local calls and two contemplate calls or minutes to mobile, as well as unlimited calls or minutes of International Long Distance.

In Baja California, Coahuila, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Morelos, Oaxaca, Querétaro and Veracruz three concessionaires offer this service. In Colima, Quintana Roo and Tabasco only one.

Fixed Internet and Non-Residential Fixed Telephony
For the analysis of the fixed Internet service and Non-Residential Fixed Telephony in its Double Play modality, 15 plans offered by the concessionaires with the highest representativeness in the market were considered.

93% of the plans include unlimited local calls, 80% include unlimited calls or mobile minutes and 100% include unlimited International Long Distance calls or minutes.

73% of the plans offer a download speed greater than 20 Mbps and in 27% the download speed is less than or equal to 20 Mbps.

In Chihuahua, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Jalisco and Querétaro four concessionaires offer fixed Internet and Non-Residential Fixed Telephony service, while in Colima, Nayarit, Quintana Roo and Tabasco only one concessionaire.

Fixed Internet and Non-Residential Pay TV
For this service in its Double Play mode, 17 plans of a single concessionaire were analyzed, being the only one that had the offer available for companies and businesses.

The monthly rent and the number of channels included in the plans vary according to the place of contracting. In 47% of the plans analyzed, the monthly rent varies and in 100% the number of channels included.

Of the offer considered, 59% of the plans include a download speed greater than 20 Mbps and 41% of the plans have a download speed less than or equal to 20 Mbps.

The plans analyzed contemplate between 41 and 164 channels. 100% only includeS SD channels. In more than 20 states, only one dealership offers fixed Internet and Non-Residential Pay TV service.

Fixed Telephony and Non-Residential Pay-TV
For the fixed Internet service and Non-Residential Pay TV in its Double Play mode, 5 plans offered by a single concessionaire were analyzed.

100% of the plans offer local calls, calls or minutes to mobile and calls or minutes of International Long Distance in an unlimited way.

The channels included in the plans range from 41 to 132 channels. 100% of plans include only standard definition channels.

Only one dealer offers Fixed Telephony and Non-Residential Pay TV service in more than 20 states.

Fixed Internet, Fixed Telephony and Non-Residential Pay TV
32 plans of Fixed Internet, Fixed Telephony and Non-Residential Pay TELEVISION in the Triple Play modality were analyzed, offered by the Concessionaires with the greatest representativeness in the market.

Of the offer analyzed, 66% of the plans include a download speed greater than 20 Mbps and 34% of the plans include a download speed less than or equal to 20 Mbps. 100% of the plans include local calls and unlimited International Long Distance calls or minutes.  

The channels included in the plans range from 19 to 186 channels. 56% of plans include only standard definition channels and 44% of plans include standard definition and also high definition channels.

Two concessionaires offer this service in: State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Puebla and Querétaro, while in the rest of the states, only one concessionaire.
