Latin America. GatesAir has appointed Alberto J. Salazar as Sales Director for the Central and Latin America (CALA) region. He is a veteran of the broadcasting industry who has held key sales roles with Harmonic and Thomson Video Networks.
Salazar will promote regional strategies and initiatives in a wide territory from Mexico to Argentina and in all the Caribbean islands. He reports directly to Joseph (Joe) Mack, vice president of sales for The Americas.
Salazar hopes to strengthen relations with partners and broadcasters at a time when many countries in the region are transitioning to digital television and/or strengthening FM radio and television infrastructure. He considers the CALA region to be rich in opportunities and cites Mexico as an interesting example, pointing to the large number of new licenses for government-issued radio and television stations across the country.
"My mission is to maximize the efforts of our sales team and strategic channel partners and distributors, and to leverage GatesAir's longevity and legacy as the industry's most trusted provider of turnkey solutions," salazar said.
Bruce D. Swail, CEO of GatesAir, welcomed Salazar, noting that "the CALA region is among the most diverse when it comes to the adoption of digital television and radio standards. With so many countries in different stages of transition, it's time to welcome an innovative and experienced sales leader with proven results."
