Mexico. A delegation from the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, led by The Presiding Commissioner, Gabriel Contreras Saldívar, and Commissioner Arturo Robles Rovalo, participated in the fifth Latin American Telecommunications Congress, CLT, which was held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
Within the Plenary Session, the IfT Presiding Commissioner participated in the thematic panel "Model regulatory framework for convergence", in which he explained how the challenges of the sector have been faced, and the perspectives that are available. The session was discussed with representatives of the private sector, academia and managers of the telecommunications regulatory authorities of Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, who shared their positions in order to reach shared notions for a regulatory framework for convergence in Latin America.
During its participation in the event, the IFT delegation held bilateral meetings with other regulatory agencies in the region, including the National Communications Agency of Argentina, with which a memorandum of understanding was signed that formalizes the goodwill of both institutions to carry out cooperation activities and exchange of experiences in accordance with the principles of equality and reciprocity.
There was also a meeting with Germán Darío Arias Pimienta - Executive Director of the Communications Regulatory Commission of Colombia, with whom experiences were exchanged, cooperation ties were strengthened and the various regulatory issues that each of the entities develops in their own country were discussed.
