Panama. Tepal held its 25th annual convention at the Sheraton Hotel in Panama on July 23 and 24, with a significant participation of Latin American Pay-TV operators and a two-day conference program.
Within the framework of the convention, its board of associates was held, to which 12 companies and six telecommunications and pay television associations representing 18 countries belong. An important result came out of this meeting: Tepal will go from being an annual convention to an association.
Mauricio Ramos, president of Millicom and president of Tepal, commented that "this is the result of a strong work in the organization during the last 30 months with the most important suppliers in the sector. Moving from being a working group and annual convention to an association will allow us to do a better job for the benefit of the entire industry."
He added that in order to chart the path to be an association, working committees will be created that will give added value for the benefit of all, with issues that are related to suppliers, programmers, network deployments, piracy and education of professionals in the sector.
Mauricio Ramos also announced that the next Tepal convention will be held in Panama on June 29 and 30.
