NAB. There were several systems that the Arri company presented during the 2015 version of NAB. Among them, lights, lenses, control for cameras and a monitor aimed at their Alexia cameras stand out.
Transvideo and ARRI are working together on a specially adapted version of Transvideo's 5" StarliteHD monitor with OLED technology. This monitor will be able to control Arri's new Alexa Mini and also the Amira.
Built of aeronautical aluminum, the rugged StarliteHD5-Arri monitor is the size of a smartphone and weighs less than 200g. Its compact size makes it ideal for shooting situations where weight and size are critical factors, much like what happens with the Alexa Mini. Working together, Arri and Transvideo are developing a touchscreen interface for the StarliteHD5-Arri that will allow it to control key functions of the Arri camera.
He presented the new tools for remote control of camera and lenses, as a result of both Arri's technological developments and his continuous joint work with cmotion. Such tools include cforce's mini lens motor and Arri's AMC-1 Active Motor Controller.
The Electronic Control System is a sophisticated set of tools for precise remote control of cameras and lenses from any manufacturer. It also provides valuable metadata about what a lens is doing exactly at a given time. All the tools within this modular and future-proof system can be freely combined in order to provide powerful, adaptable and improvable solutions for any application.
It also introduced Arri's new Super Wide Angle Anamorphic Zoom AUWZ 19-36/T4.2 is a unique lens that complements the ARRI/ZEISS Anamorphic Master lenses by extending the range and covering extreme angle focal depths ranging from 19 to 36mm without compromising image quality in any way.
In the past, the possibilities of wide-angle compositions when shooting anamorphic had been severely limited due to the lack of high-quality lenses. Difficulties such as a lot of distortion, a lot of breathing and low resolution and contrast have always been the most important problems with the existing lenses on the market. Now, for the first time, anamorphic productions can incorporate visually striking wide-angle perspectives into their narrative.
Finally, it showed SkyPanel, the line of LED lighting devices. It is a compact, ultra-bright and high-quality LED soft light source that sets a new standard for the industry. With a design focused on shape, color, light beam field and light output, the SkyPanel represents the culmination of more than a decade of research and development of LED technology at Arri. Recently, SkyPanel was recognized as a 2015 Finalist in the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers Game Changer Awards.
Initially, SkyPanel will be available in two sizes: the S60 and the S30. The S60 is a medium-range model with a light aperture of 645 x 300 mm and that adapts to the vast majority of applications. The S30, half the length of the S60, is a smaller, more portable version and is perfect for "on-the-go" mobile apps. Both models are available in fully tunable color and remote phosphor versions.
