Mexico. With the aim of providing public transparency to the adoption of  digital television in the country, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, is conducting a public consultation in relation to the content of the draft "Policy for the transition to Digital Terrestrial Television".

The IFT expects to receive written comments, opinions and concrete proposals regarding the content of the project, which aims to regulate within the framework of the Institute's powers, the scope of the constitutional and legal reform in the field of broadcasting.

In this way, it seeks to redefine the way in which the transition from analogue television to digital television in the country should be promoted, which should operate according to the needs of society, and should encourage interaction between the Institute and the sectors involved, among others, television concessionaires and permittees.

Comments, opinions and concrete proposals may be submitted from July 18 to August 8, 2014 via email in the account [email protected] or July 18 and from August 4 to 8, all of 2014, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the official office of parts of the same, located at Insurgentes Sur 1143, Colonia Nochebuena, Benito Juárez delegation, C.P. 03720, through the mechanism established on the Institute's website.

In the event that the comments, opinions and specific proposals are made on behalf of another person, whether legal or physical, a document must be attached, electronically or physically, with which the personality of the promoter is accredited, so that, otherwise, the request will be understood in his personal capacity.

Once the aforementioned period has expired, no comments, opinions or proposals will be received and the public consultation will be considered closed.

Once the public consultation has been closed, the Radio and Television Systems Unit of the Institute, within a period of 10 working days, will submit to the consideration of the Plenary of the Institute, a project that considers the result of the consultation of merit, in order that the Policy for the transition to Television be approved and published n Digital Terrestrial in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
