Latin America. Sony added a new level of wireless connectivity to its line of professional camcorders with the new wireless adapter, which is designed to facilitate network transmission and achieve effective Wi-Fi remote operation.
The adapter, reference CBK-WA100, connects directly to the camera, allows you to generate proxy files on the adapter's SD card and transmit high-resolution files over 3G/4G/LTE/Wi-Fi to a broadcasting station or upload them to a server-based cloud environment, significantly speeding up the ENG workflow.
The adapter meets these requirements by making use of wireless connectivity and proposing a new form of workflow. If Wi-Fi streaming is used, the adapter is also compatible with the Content Browser Mobile app, available for tablets or smartphones.
This connectivity between mobile devices and XDCAM camcorders allows users to record metadata on the site or review video streams using a mobile device, without needing to connect a monitor to the camcorder. This capability also facilitates automatic ingestion into broadcasting stations as well as easy search and preview of related data -- such as date, time and place of taking, notes, etc., and proxy AV data.
The adapter is compatible with the entire line of Sony XDCAM camcorders and field equipment. For production, the modern workflow allows you to transmit dailies from the field, monitor the images recorded quickly on site, remotely share the edited work on a cloud platform.
As planned, the new CBK-WA100 wireless adapter will be available in October and the CBK-WA101 model will be available in November 2013.
