Conax AS announced that Multivision, the only multi-system wireless operator in Bolivia, will use the Conax CAS7 content protection system to offer wireless digital cable services in the cities of La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Tarija.
Multivision started its operation in 1991 and is currently the only operator multi-system wireless in Bolivia offering wireless services analog cable in the cities of La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Tarija. During 2008, Multivision will launch a digital TV service using Conax CAS7 for access conditional. New digital service will meet needs entertainment for Bolivian households looking for new ones products, quality and comfort.
The competitive advantage of the new digital television service will be the possibility to access a wide variety of programming and digital audio channels. The service will offer high-quality video and audio, possibilities to choose the language of audio and subtitles, access to interactive programming guide and pay-per-view programs.
At the initial stage, the group the goal is the 254,000 homes in the city of La Paz, which it currently enjoys analogue pay-TV services. During 2008 and 2009, Multivision plans to expand its service digital television to the cities of Santa Cruz, Cochambamba and Tarija.
The new digital service of TELEVISION we are launching aims to offer qualities not offered by no other cable operator in Bolivia. After of a complete process, where we test different alternatives of conditional access, we visit existing operations in Brazil and Uruguay, and we consider the presence of CA distributors in South America, we concluded that Conax was the supplier that satisfied our expectations related to the protection of our digital services, said Jimena Saavedra, CEO of Multivision.
