Focus Enhancements, a provider of video production and conversion technologies, announced that Panasonic will offer the professional FireStore DV file converter, which adds MXF P2 support to Panasonic's DVCPRO P2 products. The FireStore DV professional file converter supports Panasonic's P2 partner program, which includes other well-known hardware and software companies such as Apple, Avid, Pinnacle, Thomson/Grass Valley and Quantel, allowing users to link to other DV solutions using P2.
The P2 series is based on the new solid-state memory card for PCMCIA, which offers economical tape-free operation.
Focus Enhancements products were used by a significant number of tapeless technology providers during NAB including, in addition to Panasonic, Apple, Avid, Canon, JVC and Sony, companies with whom it has developed partnerships.
Focus Enhancements' professional FireStore DV file conversion software is a video file converter developed for broadcasters and other video professionals employing DV, DVCAM and DVCPRO formats. Panasonic P2 cameras and consoles capture video and audio in the Material Exchange Format (MXF). MXF files include audio/video content and related metadata (production notes, camera settings, timecode positions, etc.) as well as the ability to index them for random retrieval. With the professional FireStore DV file converter, it is possible to quickly and easily convert P2 MXF formats to and from popular DV-based NLE formats available in the market including QuickTime, AVI, Raw DV, and Avid DV-OMF among others, allowing natural integration with today's most recognized editing applications.
