Super Low Delay Coding Boosts Russia's World Cup

International. In all major sporting events, the rights that sustain television organizations in their positions as commentators, as well as journalists at written press tables, have television monitors. They can switch between different channels. The channel requirements for these TVs are completely different from those of the local system, a low-delay, separate, temporary system that will be installed in the media tribune area.

The FIFA World Cup, often referred to simply as the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested every four years by professional men's teams members of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). In 2018, the FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15. The signal latency of the Media Tribune system that FIFA requested at the 2018 World Cup, must be less than 300ms with mandatory technical requirements, which sets very strict limits for encoders.

Through tireless Research and Development (R&D) efforts and repeated internal testing, Sumavision successfully launched a video encoding solution with very low delay. The delay of the EMR encoder is less than 50 ms, which has reached the highest level in the industry, which proves Sumavision's strong R&D strength in the field of video processing.

The official test result shows that the total encoder delay to the total TV is less than 260 ms, which fully meets FIFA requirements. So far, the coding delay, distribution concepts and stand monitor model have been tested and confirmed by the FIFA Confederations Cup, which is expected to drive the live broadcast of the World Cup in Russia.
